Verstappen moans about the sprint format, Damon Hill brands him a sore loser.

Hamilton moans about the sprint format, does so on the same day, and finishes lower than Verstappen, Hill says not a word.

This is why I can't stand pundits, and some of the worst are the has-beens. I'm interested in the racing, not what some man with an odd beard and strangely shaped head thinks.

All the Sky team are so personally invested on the whole Merc / Hamilton wagon that they are trying really hard not to notice Mercedes currently being the 4th best team.

You got it Fishy. I don't really support or are a fan of any particular driver, I just enjoy the sport as a whole so this sycophancy does grate somewhat.

Red Bull haven't said anything yet, but Verstappen was repeatedly talking of some kind of diff problem in the radio, couldn't get brake balance right as a result. If he did have a less than stellar car he did quite well to be holding onto Perez so tightly, only backing off in the final 10 laps. Better than I could manage!

Perez is also an older, more patient character than Max and on circuits like Azerbaijan that are actually quite dull for drivers because of the fairly uniform corners, and his patience usually pays off with better tyre management. On the other 3/4 of the circuits where comers are more varied faster synapses and better spatial awareness usually play into Verstappens hands. It's little surprise Perez won today, even discounting bad luck timing for Max's first stop, but of the remaining 19 races 16 are of a nature that simply suit Verstappen better. Unless something pretty unforseen happens I don't think this makes Perez a serious title contender.

What on Earth is happening to McLaren? Norris deserves better than 9th, and a hard fought one at that. He's doubtless got a performance clause in his contract and one wonders how long before he jumps ship.

And speaking of jumping ship, rumours are gaining volume about LeClerc and Hamilton swapping seats next season. More fuel on the fire this weekend when Hamilton was asked if Wolff had been in talks with LeClerc - Hamilton didn't outright says yes, but said it would only be sensible for Wolff to be in discussions with other drivers. Make of that what you will...

Either way LeClerc deserves a top flight car, the way Verstappen strolled past on the straight there really was no point in LeClerc wasting time and risking contact when the end result was so inevitable, mso he didnt. Red Bull have pulled a blinder with their car and one wonders what the likes of Fezza will have to do to reel them in?

BTW, ive met Wolff twice, once at Silverstone when I was dibbling there and once on a factory tour. You wouldn't think so from the TV but he's a very tall guy. I'm a chocolate mouses c**k under 6'4" and he's taller than me, 6'5" or maybe 6'6". Mind you, he falls off bicycles more than I do.

I'll never buy a Mercedes because of Hamilton, find him really annoying. I suspect Ferrari would never have him because of branding.

Enjoying alonso this year, but I'm a redbull fan

I used to watch f1livegp.me piratee sky coverage but they shut that down, so get ftv app from overseas proxy as they ban uk live coverage because of the sky contract

Well that's totally the opposite to Channel 4 who are so in love with Red Bull. 2 ex Red Bull drivers commenting on the race and any excuse to interview Christian Horner. Perhaps they should ask him if he has any of his wife's records then perhaps he would shut up!

I just can't see why he would, I know all F1 drivers usually spout about wanting to always drive a Ferrari, but they have not been dominant for so long now, what would be get out of it apart from being able to say he did it, he's also too outspoken for them

I find that quite a sad statement

Which bit, the not buying a Merc or finding Hamilton annoying?

I find him annoying too. Ace wheelman, one of the best ever, but when he's not moaning he's making himself look a prat, such as preaching to us on social media about global warming...from his private jet, or blaming his ethnicity for a Marshals decision that went against him at Monaco in 2011 (he rightfully got quickly slapped back into place by the FIA for that), ad nauseum.

People moan about Max moaning - surely an irony there? - but he's a rank amateur in comparison. He'll never get that whinging, wheedling tone of voice that Ramilton does so well. Max is a less sophisticated moaner, just gets it off his chest.

But to win a championship at Ferrari is seen as the greatest prize in F1 so who would turn down a chance at that ?
