'There's no I in team,' was a favourite of one of our ex managers, you should've seen the look on his face when someone replied, 'but there's an M and an E.' 😂

Through my career there have been so many of these truisms.
But they have become totally forgettable.

Just check the translation first.

I once saw a women in a bar, with a Chinese symbols on the back of her neck. She claimed it said "Handle with care"

My much amused companion from Hong Kong later told me it actually said "Hand Wash Only"

I've likely recounted this before but I read in New Scientist that someone wanted the Confucian proverb "It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness" on the dedication page of his PhD thesis. The proverb was a reference to education and learning, and I think the PhD was on properties of light or similar so doubly apt."
He decided it would be cool to have it in Chinese script, so he asked around to see if any of the Asian guys in the department could help, then, deadline looming, he found a few Chinese characters scribbled on a bit of paper left on his desk. A bit of checking, and it seemed along the right lines so he got it printed and bound. Someone then owned up that it actually said "Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight" which had been copied off a packet of noodles. Considering the fate of most PhD theses, this seemed even more apt than his original idea, so he left it in.
