Trivial to you sir, but I have never got over it. It will always be Jif in our household.

A few years back, Jif changed from lemon juice to a kitchen surface cleaner.

Now I think, that wasn't trivial...

Pottsy are you bemoaning the lack of bayonet cap light bulbs or the lack of edison screw bulbs?

Lack of the screw bulbs. They were everywhere in my gran's house, haven't seen one in ages.

Screw bulbs are more, not less common than they were!
You can probably blame Ikea for that.

Electrically I don't like them. If the lamp holder is connected the wrong way round then the metal threaded part of the ES screw becomes live and can be touched. The bayonet type lamp holder could be connected eitehr way and the connections were both hidden and safe.

The disappearance of Toffos. I actually didn;t know they had gone, but emailed them and got this reply
Thank you very much for your email.

Unfortunately we had to withdraw Toffos from our range some years ago as they were expensive to make and sales were relatively low. It was a difficult decision for us because we are proud of all our products and do not like to disappoint our consumers. As far as we know, the brand teams have no plans at present to re-introduce this line however, we will pass your request on to them.

Thank you once again for taking the time and trouble to contact us. We hope you will continue to enjoy our products in the future.

Yours sincerely

The taking over of Lion Confectionary by M*yn*rds. A direct result is that the liquorice Midget Gem is no longer included in the packets you can buy at motorway service areas.;) On the plus side, they're still available in some specialist sweet shops.xx(

The kitkat wrapper thing: Nestle claimed it was to improve freshness. I remember it getting onto the Today programme and John Humphreys ripping the Nestle bloke apart:

Humphreys: So why have they changed?
Nestle bloke: To keep the kitkats fresher.
H: So, have we been eating stale kitkats all these years?
NB: No, but these will be fresher.
H: But if they weren't stale before, how can they be fresher?

And so on, for some minutes... I assume (and I think this was Humphrey's idea too) that it's cheaper and simpler to run a single flow-wrap machine than one foil wrapping machine and one paper wrapping one. But they tried to say it was for improved freshness, as that sounds better...

It was a sad day. No longer can you rub the foil to see the pattern underneath, and then run a nail along the groove to snap the finger off.

Also, kitkat quality control is rubbish these days, I keep getting them all off centre, so you get thicker chocolate at one end, and exposed wafer at the other.
