I don't think it's highly rated by anyone, even by people like me who might have a soft spot for it.
Oh it is... the only reason I've rewatched it is after seeing it praised on some doc about sci-fi movies... and again after a couple of friends rated it as one of the best... each time I thought i must have been missing something marvellous, but i wasn't.

Quite correct. Total carp. Shame, I'm a huge Dune fan, books-wise...

There's a new Dune coming out next year. Denis Villeneuve is directing who I thought did well with Blade Runner 2049 so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Does anyone remember The Winds of War an epic mini series early 80s I think documenting how the good ole USA won the war ? Robert Mitchum was one of the stars. His acting was so wooden it was an affront to carpentry.
