The grave of John Bonham (of Led Zeppelin) in Rushock, to the south of Birmingham. Apologies for only partial view of my bike. Messages from fans all over the world written on drumsticks and cymbals.

A sadly forgotten memorial in some trees on the site of the former Tenenbach monastery, which was used as a military hospital in the 30 years war and the wars of Napoleon. This one is to the young men who were conscripted during the occupation and marched off to Russia.

I've since heard there's another on a mass grave of soldiers who died of typhus, cholera and other diseases in the hospital itself during the 30 years war. This is apparently on the other side of the woodland so I'll have a look for that in future.

I could just get the bike in a picture: there isn't even a path to the monument, it's just a trail through the trees.

I always stop and say hello to this poor soul, his life hardly begun like so many others and probably ended horribly in the War to end all Wars. Humanity can be such a stupid species.

Following on from @Oldhippy 's post above, a memorial in front of Ettenheim Gynmasium. It's specifically to the students of the school who were killed in World War 1. I sometimes wonder how many of these young men were opposite those on memorials in the UK.

Memorial in the context of the school:

A Gymnasium is similar to a grammar school, so the young men on this memorial represented the brightest and best of the town, but when the war began they were disposable.
