It wasn't.

As a last resort, let's have a look at some real evidence.

The form is reproduced in this link.

Note the phrase 'register a complaint' and it's clear you can only fill in your email and confirm it.

So just to be clear, those 111,000 people being quoted as complaining, all those people used the Complaints Process you linked. My 'vote' via the short-lived 'express form' isn't amongst those, all I will be getting is feedback on the complaints registered by others?

Do I have that correct?

And just for further clarity, what is this form being referred to by the BBC as a Complaints Form (which sound familiar to me) which stated that complainants about too much coverage should register their complaints by entering their email address?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56703437

You see when I read and completed that form I was clear that:

1. The BBC had been receiving significant volumes of complaints about the coverage being OTT.
2. They had introduced a speedier way to register my own complaint about same by entering my email address.
3. I completed it, believing I had registered a complaint, given 1&2

What were people complaining about (or wanting to complain about when notified) I wonder? Too much or not enough?
I complained that there was no mention of HRH in The Archers

So you used the registration form, but still told us it was a lot more than that?

Some honesty wouldn't go amiss.

As regards the numbers of the complaints and what type they are, we do not know because the only people who know - the BBC - have not given those numbers or the breakdown.

The count - as leaked to The Sun - might include those who used the Beeb's generic complaints process and those who registered using the dedicated Phil form.

But equally, the 110,000 might just be those who wrote their complaints on the standard form.

Either way, my reading of the registration form is all responders will get is the BBC's public response to the general complaint of too much coverage.

Seemingly you really don't know, but you're still happy to pronounce and denounce, including impugning the integrity of another. What I completed was a very clear registration of my complaint at the quantity of coverage.

I will leave it there - by all means come back and have the last word if you wish.

You are aware that the form is asking you to register a complaint about there being to much coverage of the subject? If you still think otherwise then as a man of words please break it down for us line by line so we will know what it's purpose is. (There are only a couple of lines so it won't take you long).

Have another read of that form in your link. You may just owe someone an apology.

It seems so.

Remarkable.

In response to @glasgowcyclist who said the form 'sounded a lot more than a notify me register', you responded 'it was'.

You then told us you had used the form to register your email address.

The 'it was' statement was dishonest, because you must have known the form was indeed a 'notify me' register because you had used it.

It'll be an apology. He a man who's big enough to do so.

Nice try.

The form was only to leave your email to get the BBC's response to the complaints when available.

No doubt the majority of those who did so were 'registering a complaint', but the written complaints were made by other means - they had to be, there was no opportunity to write text on the form.

the form was indeed a 'notify me' register

According to the form you linked to it was to "register a complaint".

An apology does seem due.
