As Greg mentioned earlier, there is an (undeniable) requirement for motorised road users, to recognise and have an appreciation for the needs of cyclists.
It seems to me though, that there is a conflict of priorities - those of cyclists v the 'needs' of business & commerce. So far as road use goes (in a city), cyclists' needs are always going to be of fairly low priority.
Can anyone in living in London really be surprised, when they experience high levels of motorists - some of whom (possibly many), show poor driving skills ?
If you live in London, surely road congestion goes with the turf ?
London is a World centre for Banking/Commerce & Business; it is on the back of this, that the citizens (such as Dell) make a living.
I don't agree with the concept of Zil lanes; but that is the kind of thing that happens in large cities, when 'bigwigs' start on the 'freebies'. Is it wrong ? Yes ! (imo), but I'm certainly not surprised that it happens.
Dell chose to live in London; it is a huge, densely populated & incredibly busy city - possibly not the best place to live in, if you are a keen cyclist.
