We used to go through loo seats fairly quickly too, but one toilet being used by 8 people is not going to last as long as in a " normal" family.
We have four toilets between five of us now - soft close ones to be precise! - and in two years only two are still in tact, the others are coming off the hinges already.
One of those is in daughter's ensuite so I'm thinking it wasn't put on right to start with rather than her having over or mis -used it.

How appropriate that this thread re-surfaeces! :okay:

Bought something like this at a jumble sale yesterday - completely new and unused for 4 quid.

Should have been over £100!

I know the usual 'debate' is as to why men (who lift the seat in order to pee) don't put it down again, but there should (imho) be a new debate about the lid (which only posh people had when I were a lad, but now seems ubiquitous).
I'm a stickler for putting this down too... no matter if it was #1s or #2s View attachment 195695
But I'm the only one in my house (otherwise populated by females) who does so... ooh, it does annoy me... View attachment 195696
Lid should go down as water splashes out when you flush and lands on stuff like your toothbrush!!!!!

I'm almost certain that mythbusters busted the myth about fetal matter and loo seats.
Although, I could be wrong and maybe they proved it.
We're all still alive though.

Our loo seats and covers close gently of themselves. I tend to forget that not everyone's loo seats do likewise.
BANG!

Wot I hate are those seats which won't stay up and you have to hold them up with your knee whilst having a pee.
