I see there's what looks like a boss on the tube near the 'H' of Holdsworth.

Is that something to do with down tube shifters?

Thanks, I'm quite pleased about that given I know naff all about roadie frames.

My childhood 'racing' bike had a locating lug for the band-on down tube shifters.

Worked OK, although inevitably the band scraped the paint.

I'm guessing that's a (ver' nice) contemporary frame, rather than an original.
The original Professional had half-chromed seat stays which finished with a fastback top.
This much I know because, as a teenager, I lusted deeply, deeply, deeply after one of these.
Oh, and fully chromed front forks, if memory serves....

I Don't have a Pro.... wish I did. I have a much older one in a now parlous state that will probably be a 10 year project to get restored! A chap had one on the Skyscraper Christmas ride and I can't recall what it is now!
