No entry requirements for LEL but the ballot for this year has closed.

I'd suggest joining Audax UK so you've a guaranteed entry next time and getting some distance in. A nice few 400 and 600's and you'll be set. Do the BRM registered audaxes in 2026 and you'll get earlier entry to PBP in 2027.

Me? As I can't do LEL because I wouldn't have recovered in time I'm hoping to ride PBP in 2027. For this year I'm aiming for an organised 6-day tour of Brittany.

Luckily you can do both - with 4 months recovery in-between! LEL has easier logistics - the event finishes at the start. And you get to see Scotland :-)
No entry requirements (and "races" wouldn't be considered anyway :P )

I am running the start and finish at Writtle. We are entirely dependent on the goodwill and helpfulness of our volunteers. So thank you to anyone who has volunteered.

Just thinking about it it's pretty evenly matched apart from the likely weather January Vs May.

800 miles 8 x centuries

I love fone a fair few centuries and marathons and to me they feel about the same depending on the intensity your running / cycling at.

The spine has knarly terrain whilst the lel has the danger of falling asleep on the bike.

Completely hypothetical of course!!

For a cyclist, the Spine is a nightmare
For a runner, then LEL is a nightmare
For a triathlete, where is the swim event?

But really, neither is worse, they are both a test of endurance where the clock does not stop.
