They’ll stay for the time being, I’ll only do short trips on it

Short trips eh. From the fridge to the microwave, then round to the dining table

Hoping I can ‘get’ a folder and post a picture soon 😎

I’ve just had a cull of the 2-wheeled Fleet: to whittle down to just six 🙄 Two of those are “Display only BMX’s though”. But; still having four riders: the folder won’t be used even weekly for sure. But I do fancy a bike I can take away with me easier, chuck on a train, lob in the boot of the car etc.

Not sure I want - or need (?) - to stretch out to a Brompton; but something of a reasonable quality would be nice of course.

At the moment I’m been watching eBay and Facebook Marketplace. One to get a feel of the market / options / prices etc. And two - to see if anything appealing comes up near me. Which it hasn’t as yet.

Under the Brompton price point (And quality ?): some of the Dahon’s look decent. As do a few of the Dawes.

Anything else decent / robust (I’m 6’2+ and 100kg) I should be searching for ?

Intercity Disc 9. They are out there, although with only a short production run there aren't many.

The good news is those that do crop up tend to be virtually unused.

Just bought a new (to us - but still 9 years old) car.

MK3 TT Cabriolet. Our 2006 Mini Cabriolet failed its MOT and was going to cost more to fix than it was worth so we upgraded.

One of the things that was useful about the Mini though, was that the Brompton just fitted in the boot.

The same week we got the new car, my wife was driving home from netball about the same time I was getting off the train and it was persistently raining.

She offered to come pick me up and I said 'No' as I didn't think the Brompton would go in the boot.

But it does. I've just tried it this morning. I suspect a G-Line would mean pedalling home in the rain again though.

I always thought Bromptons to be odd looking bikes but have bought one this week, the frame is 2000 but it's been updated. So far I've ridden it up and down outside and getting used to it. Today I fitted a luggage block and handlebar extender bit for a front light or phone. Not sure if the carry strap is needed will see. Just need to get used to the twitchy feel of it now 🙂

I have found the carry strap to be very useful, especially as I no longer have the standard saddle on my bike.

From where did you get the handle bar bridge?

Early models had a handlebar bridge as the earlier bars were reputed to be flexy. I just happened to have a bridge from an old set of motorcycle bars when I acquired my 2012 Brompton so I managed to fit it. It's not essential, but is quite handy when it comes to towing it about on its carrier wheels when folded.
