I wear a thin breathable balaclava or a tight fitting bob hat under my cycle helmet to keep my ears and the rest warm.

I've got that Merino Baba one and its so small it's like a bloody Kippah! Barely covers my ears. Maybe I just have a large swede . Rapha have a winter pack deal which is a merino buff, hat and some socks which is hopefully coming for Christmas for me

When it's really cold I use a motorcyclist's balaclava by EDZ but otherwise, a buff which came free with Cycling Plus & has dainty little images of sprockets and chains all over it !

Aldi had the ski tube in for 2.99 recently. perfectly good for the price, hell, for that cost, you can buy two - one for the head and one for the neck and still not feel ripped off.
