And of course who care's whether the bike you own is on Mickle's list if you are happy with it. ;)

Well, I'm going to be riding my own brand of bicycle from next month and anyone who would like to own one will be vetted closely.;)

I hope you are not calling your bikes 'hilldodgers' - they'll never sell...:smile:

If I was buying a new mtb I would probably only consider an Orange, Whyte, or Santa Cruz which must make my brand snobbery a tad serious.

They are going to be retro styled and branded Peregrine by the Leicester Cycle Co. In the 1890's the LCC was a huge concern making twice as many bikes as Raleigh.

Cyclemagic is on part of the site occupied by the old company and when people buy each (numbered) machine they will also receive copies of old adverts and info on the former company.

Launch is at our open weekend on 18/19 April.

How much are these things going to cost, will they actually work and can you put up a picture of one?

They'll be between £500 - 600.

Yes they will work - we build and adapt a huge range of bikes and also run a fleet of machines of every description for our events and special needs projects.

I can't post a picture yet due to a media deal. One of them will be a Guv'nor style bike. Another will be a gents roadster.

I'm with you on this one Mickle. I couldn't ride any of the bikes on the list (apart from maybe a Cannondale because its not a Trek/Giant/Spec). My snobbery is based on how popular/common they are.

I'll ride anything that
a)works (IE does the job I need it too)
b)fits and/or
c)is comfortable

I really don't think I'd dismiss anything on terms of brand - or even colour, unless I had completely free choice (prefer no pink, if possible, but if someone offered me e.g. a pink Brom for £50, I'd take it). About the only thing I'd dismiss off hand is the A-bike, and that's on grounds of a) and c) above.

I'll ride anything that is as good as my bike or better, and as mine is pretty much the cheapest Claud Butler you can get, it doesn't leave me very much room to be snobby.

Actually, I'd also ride shittier bike if mine wasn't around at the time.

It's difficult to be snobby about these things if you've never had a 'nice' bike.

Trek - too weekend warrior

So a Trek Madone 6.9 is a weekend warrior bike? I think it's really nice meself.

But I agree in some respects, there are some bikes that might make me instantly dislike the rider (until I spoke to them, of course), for no reason whatsoever. The only other thing are people who ride round town in London Dynamo kit
