Rain stayed away, so cycled to work and got here an hour early! 45 miles instead of the 20 mile direct route. Finish at 10pm, might ride home if it's dry but forecast not good.
It was chucking it down at 10pm when I finished. The 5 mile ride to Kilwinning train station was more than enough, so train to Largs it was .... Then one last soaking on the half mile ride between the train station and the house!

Left it late to book a train ticket with cycle reserved to get to ride to the sun start line on June 18th unless I want to arrive in Carlisle at 4pm for a 730pm start. Any ideas on any alternative bike friendly ways to Carlisle that aren't riding 100 miles there for a 100 mile return or driving and getting train back to get the car ?

When your life's in a mess...............

They carry bikes; "maybe"! It seems that the final decision is at the discretion of the driver, and you obviously won't know for sure until the point and time of departure. Oh, and you might have to have your bike bagged too.

Edit.... Having thought about this, what's wrong with getting to Carlisle at 4.00 for a 7.30 departure? A few hours for some light refreshments in the form of a couple of pints and a pie or two; sounds like ideal preparation to me!
