What a difference between last night and tonight weather wise

Ah, 'cycling' I remember that!

Starting to be able to breath without too much pain, just a little tightening at full expansion of the ribcage. My arm is still a bit iffy, can't weight bear or put any force through it, so will probably give it another week before I think about venturing onto the roads... Hope to be ready for the Lakes in a fortnight, though I won't be beating @Rasmus up any hills (purely because of this obviously!)

Although I'm glad to be back in the ranks of the employed this working malarkey is getting in the way of my cycling time. After 7pm before I got home last night and at present I'm just about to leave Newcastle so it will about 9pm before I get home. Looking at the jobs I have on for Thursday and Friday I'll have driven about 1500 miles by Friday home time. Praise the Lord for the company van and fuel card.

Ditto - I'm currently on a 1-in-3 on-call. Due to swaps etc. I've just done 3 consecutive nights with 10 1/2 hours 'call outs' on top of my regular 37.5 hrs so far this week. Free tonight then another 24hr 'session' from 9am Saturday to 9am Sunday. Roll on the Sunday bike ride.

My standard week is 40 hours but add on travel time (which is paid) I'll be looking at 45-50 hours. Then once I'm trained I'll be on call every 3rd weekend covering the whole of Scotland

Back on the bike this week, 20 miles on Wednesday down to Helix and back up through Falkirk area (ended up in Camelon crematorium at one point). Last night was about 22 miles with my brother who just started cycling and I think the last 3-4 miles killed him! Had to start somewhere though.

What good 30/40/50 mile routes are in this area or maybe 1/2 hour car journey? Scenic - good, some hills - good, lots of hills - not good!

There's loads

, going up carron valley hill from Denny, then the right down to bannockburn, then back via Larbert, mostly quiet roads and carron valley is a long hill but gradual

Boness - blackness castle- linlithgow

Stirling- Alloa- clacks bridge

If you are on Strava, search Stephen Louch and you will see my routes and the roads I go on. Can use Mapmyride to size them up from wherever in falkirk you are
