I'm happily manly lying in my bed just now. Might even light some candles for some ambiance

If it had been the tour of borders that you have kept secret from us all, or anywhere non local I'd have done it. Come out at 3 and we can knock a half ton out

Fully decided I'm not doing tomorrow, will do route another day when it's not 3c and 18mph winds at the bottom of the climbs . Crabbies ginger beer and the masters for me tonight

Watching Paris-Roubaix today or are you too tired/the tv is too far?:girldance:

I don't like to talk about it but i survived the tour of the borders 2013, it made me a man
Not seen that video before, I'd assumed that it was one of those "You don't know, you weren't there, man!" type stories that is talked up but that was pretty horrendous weather! Chapeau!

(Surprised they didn't call it off, tbh)

they only let the first group do the long route, i was in the front group...it was a tough day, cyclist had to be rescued with tractors...Still i don't like to talk about it.

I survived the 888. It made a woman of me. It also taught me that there are times when staying inside is the better option. Sadly those 2 days we did not have that option.
It started this day https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/page/?o=T8&page_id=254574&v=Sc should you be mad enough to want to read the 3 days it took us to get off the 888

and I quote...
To sum up today, I quote xxxxx 'I ran out of swear words and had to start making them up' within the first 2km of leaving our wild camp. When he got fed up of making them up, he propped his bike up against a crash barrier on what felt like an endless, unrelenting climb, and walked back down the road to help me. I was still (amazingly) cycling at this point, so he waited until I cycled passed him, and pushed me and the bike up the hill. As hill starts went it was a bad one and the weather did little to help - the wind had swung around overnight and we now had a serious headwind to contend with.

Horizontal rain, high winds and an unforgiving environment left little room for progress. 17.5km by lunch felt like a miracle and I have never been so happy to see a shelter or a public toilet, neither had xxxxx. ...it took the trangia (stove), the public toilet and 3 cups of coffee and lunch to stop us shivering. I think we spent over 2 hours in that public toilet - I am so glad they are good ones in Norway. We were both very tempted to spend the entire night there if needed, and had even worked out how to get both bikes in there, dry the floor off and have enough room for both sleeping mats.
...
Today has been a testing day - we survived the test, I don't know if we actually passed the test, but we are now laughing about it! It goes without saying there are no photos!

It's the weirdest thing Friday night it was agony... then something clicked and it's basically fine now. There is still a little pain today, but I managed to do twenty miles home from my folk's so can't complain I guess. Hope your erm... gastrointestinal 'difficulties' have settled!

Dis nae come itself!

I took the train to work, still feeling poorly this morning.
Should have cycled anyway: got wet walking to the train station, train was delayed, took ages to get there, got into work, was asked to do some major furniture lifting - about 50 tables and 500 chairs.
A wee cycle on top of that would not have harmed me
