Blowing out my @r$e on todays ride, first one of the year, the last 3 months of last year i wasn't on the bike as much as i should have been, too much beer got the better of me at the weekends...but signed up for a couple of tough sportives this year so i need to get my finger out...i cycled up to Dunblane and thought i would try Sheriffmuir, i managed to get to the foot of Sheriffmuir and i was really struggling, i reckon if i cycled up Sheriffmuir i would have been rescued by the mountain rescue team, what a mess i was

Ha ha that's pretty much what happened to me! Not been out since mid November so thought 15-20 would be a good start.

Cycled to Kilsyth, turned left and promptly got lost around Cumbernsuld/Condorrat. Couldn't get out those bloody roads!!

Then headed to Kirkintilloch as I knew I'd find the canal from there - by the time I was in Kirkintilloch I was 23 miles down and still had the return leg!

Kirkintilloch to Denny was a mixture of canal/road but I really started to feel the pain. Had to stop at Greggs for a sausage roll and coffee to allow me to tackle the hill between Bonnybridge and Denny. After cycling about 34 miles clipless (maiden voyage, never had them before) I managed to go so slow up the brae I fell off!!!!!:blush:

What a tragic start to my 2015 campaign and training for April sportive. 36 miles and I'm still in pain!

@Fubar is playing with the big boys (who live in the sunny south) on MCL, currently 5th
Are you in training for something? ;)

He should be 4th - no 4 is logging turbo miles! Shocking!

I'm trying to do a test 'import' to see if I can just do a monthly bulk upload to MCL after its up-down-up-down shenanigans, and to cut down on the admin.
Not sure if it's working or not, just get a vague 'we'll notify you when complete' response to the upload

@edindave - that's shocking ... where are the @Moderators when you need them ;)
I thought it was really quite obvious that the CycleChat team's turbo miles on MCL only count as far as the bike moves along the ground

EDIT: actually, No 4 isn't counting his turbo miles towards his cycling total, he is just logging them separately ... all adds up nicely

At the beginning of your cycle??

I was 35 miles in and full of sausage roll!
Actually, it was after we did 50km with the Stirling bike hub's group.
We decided we could not be bothered to do another 50km with them, 'cause they were too fast  so we cycled back to Glasgow instead ^_^

Yes, you could count running (sacrilege, I know ;)) and other stuff, too ...

Good News: My distances should start rising soon
Bad News: That's because I'll be back at work
I was just thinking along the same lines ... hmm, better get all the stuff ready for going to work tomorrow:headshake:, next thought ... I get to go on my (at least partially) lovely commute again
Will be giving some extra thoughts to a fellow Edinburgh cyclist (and the lovely family he left behind) - he was killed on his commute by a lorry hitting him on 5th January a few years ago

I worked in Exinburgh between 2010 and 2012. I was going to get a foldable bike on C2W, cycle to Falkirk, train to Edinburgh, cycle to work in Muirhouse. Then a cyclist was hit by a bin lorry and died. Gave up the idea on that very day. I wonder if it was the same cyclist.
