Ee-faAoife is the from the Irish word for "beauty" aoibh, unrelated to the name Eve.
I'd say that's spot on. I've never had an Irish whiskey that compared with a top single malt Scotch, but I've never had one I didn't like - unlike Scotch, where some of the cheap/megabrand (I'm looking at you, Bells) ones are really pretty nasty.I prefer their cheaper white label stuff.
Re the whisky/whiskey debate I thing cheap whiskey is much much better than cheap whisky, but conversely the more expensive whiskey is disappointing compared to similarly priced whisky
