I tended to find myself recording so-called science programmes then playing them back at double speed. They labour each point so much it's still pretty easy to follow the speech. Too much arty films of clocks and such, and too little General Relativity is typical.

PS, I thought the bike factory one wasn't too bad to be fair
Most of the science ones leave me blinking after the opening credits but I always watch them. Well, the interesting ones, anyway. The more boring / over my head ones are great for falling asleep to. Most soothing.

I suspect they structure the programme in such a way so when they eventually get shown on UK Gold or some such, it's easier to edit it for the ad breaks. Hence the 'recaps'.

Probably, but it's hackneyed, overusing a journalistic device : tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them, then tell them what you've told them ( but in this case keep doing it) . It was particularly bad in the Cornflakes Factory episode. I shan't be watching anymore, for fear of throwing the iron at the telly.

I suspect 'Inside the Factory' isn't designed to be a Open University style exploration of production methods, and is actually supposed to be entertainment. Admittedly this is something as a surprise given that it is presented by a greengrocer and a journalist.
