In Praise of Cardigans

Looked him up too - my current physique resembles his, so a good comparison really.

Wish I had some pics of me wearing Oxford bags and platform shoes. The flares had to fully cover your shoes to get the coolest look, but if you got caught in a downpour the whole thing collapsed in a soggy mess, and you looked even more ridiculous. Them were the days.

Tank tops are the work of Satan! All the promise of a cardigan, but with restricted access and no arms.

Preserve of Blue Peter presenters and androgenous, alleged entertainers.

A schism in the CCCC!

Factions fighting under zips or buttons headings. Pitch battles, street fighting, man the barricades.
It's a fundamental human right to choose your own cardigan buttons.
You have only your freedom to lose.
Watch out for the beigeists, they are devious and manipulative
Beware the cable stitch mobs, they are a rough lot though.

All very divisive.
It's rumoured that the zip supported eat their young.

Choose your side once, carefully.

A tactical cardigan???

Cargo cardie.

Sweeping statement warning.

Males in slacks, blazers, sports jackets, vests, ties, anything biege or brown (except brown shoes), and definitely cardigans...

... signify that they have joined the ranks of the truly old.

The feminine equivalents are; garishly coloured anoraks, tweedy skirts, American Tan tights, hideous long floral dresses, and pearl necklaces (no smut please) and matching 'drop' earrings.

The usual habitat of the above, often found coupled together (probably the only time they do couple), is in the local pub at Sunday lunchtime eating a Sunday 'special'.

...sage, wise, sensible, stylish, and dashedly handsome (the latter in particular in my case.)

Once you go cardie you won't go back.

I am currently wearing a proper fleece - full zip no hood

at the moment I do not have a cardie - but if I did it would have buttons
a cardie clearly does NOT have a zip - such things are different garments created by those who wish to destroy civilisation!!!!

over the years I have downgraded by fleece - I used to only wear proper outdoor makes - Berghaus would od but preferably the sort of thing you only find in "proper" outdoor walking shops

nowadays I have 3 - and 2 are from M&S - I plead not guilty because SWMBO gave me them for Christmas

M&S is for cardies not fleece (what is the plural of fleece?? fleece, fleeces flice????)

anywayI should probably get a cardie
(see post I'm about to put in the retirement thread )

I bought this suede and wool cardigan from the retro clothing shop I work in a few years ago. I"m actually wearing it now as I post. I'd say it was made in the 1960's or 1970's. 🤔 🧐
