An advanced ‘scout’ sent out in, erm, advance prior to the big boys and girls coming along.
The scout gets arrested, gets put in a mental home, is analysed, found to be either insane or SUPER intelligent and put in a secure unit, but totally unable in keeping him bound and he’s ‘beamed up’ leaving his human ‘suit’ behind, and reports to his superiors that life on is Earth too primitive for it to be interesting or worth developing!

I remember our biology teacher - a horrible creepy man, in 6th form the boys always took turns coming in with us girls when we had a microscope session in the store room with the creep; nothing was said but the lad would just lean on the door and watch - saying that the extraterrestrials might come to the decision that we humans were the best meat supply they'd ever come across in their intergalactic wanderings, and stay to farm us.

I'm intrigued to know how anyone (me included) thinks we'd be able to communicate with aliens, when we can't have a conversation with any of the millions of different species on this planet.

There's a strong claim that that's how not only do things communicate, but also how travel would be enabled.
Given the types the aliens seem to have abducted in America, I guess they don't feel we've managed to write anything yet.
