but it's absolutely freezing! It's dry and I do have winter kit (gloves, merino, buff, overtights) but I just don't think I'll survive.

Despite having ample insulation, I don't do well with the cold - I was stood at a bus stop the other day with my teeth chattering! :cold: I know I'll probably warm up in time and probably end up too hot, but the first 10 minutes of hypothermia worry me

Inspire me!

Wrap up well and just kid yourself you are only off out for 15 minutes. A couple of hours later when you get home you will feel great. Cold and knackered, but great ^_^

Give it a go - you're lucky that you don't have sleet and snow.

I must've looked like a drowned rat when I arrived at the post office parcel collection office yesterday. For the whole (short) journey the sleet was blowing into my face  The chap behind the counter looked rather horrified at the state of me!

Go on, go on, go on......

15 minutes and you'll forget you were even having this debate. Dress for 15 minutes or dress for now and strip down after 15. Just a good windproof will do it. Head for a ride on which you have a decision point. Right now, you'll probably want to turn back at the decision point but I bet when you get there you won't and if you do, at least you've been out.

I am about to head out for a run, even though I couldn't really be bothered, so I've just changed the run to somewhere I don't often go, make it more interesting.

You will find that your body will generate it's own heat when you cycle. It is only your extremities that will feel cold but with good gloves, socks etc you should be fine. You might even end up too warm. I know that is easy for me to say as I have the opposite problem here where dehydradtion and heat exhaustion is my enemy.
