It would be interesting to know the width of the "narrow country lane" where the incident occurred as some rural roads require co-operation of both parties in order to pass each other safely.

Wouldn't make much of a difference. I pretty much only cycle narrow country lanes these days and it's very rare for a driver to make space for you, they're too worried about getting mud on their wheels. If they do make space, they certainly don't even come close to making as much space as they do for a car or other motorised vehicle and it's quite rare for them to slow down too, though it is becoming more common.

She drives past people coming the other way and can hear them shout "Killer cyclist"?

She didn't stop because the cyclist was "upright"?

I would say it makes a considerable difference in law, no one has priority on such a road, there is an onus on both parties to avoid a collision.

So given that what she's saying about what happened, agrees with what the cyclist first tweeted, which is how he was identified, referenced further up in the Guardian article, are they not both looking a bit silly now? Not quite as silly as the baying hordes mind.

Watching the 2 tv clips imho she is lying though her teeth and more worried about herself than taking responsibility for her actions. Yesterdays clip where she claimed she could not remember what the tweet said exactly is nothing short of a joke, and as for "the cyclist hit my mirror" wtf

Well, he seems impeccably calm, reasonable and intelligent. He even manages to suggest he feels sorry for her facing losing her job, but avoids any attempt to have him tell the firm not to sack her. Clever. Very clever.

To most drivers, bikes are incapable of anything above walking or running speed. There is no way that we can match their speed. We are slower moving vehicles simply getting in their way, even when we're going just as quick as them.
When people really start to realise the speed that a bike can travel at, under human power alone, let alone when the terrain is in our favour. Then we'll be in with a chance of being recognised as equal road users.

She made a number of mistakes & is now paying the price. Idiocy alone does not cover what she did. Nor does panic after the incident.
