You're putting me to shame already, I thought you were a beginner?!

I think Jane will be keeping you and HLaB company at the front of the pack on the next ride...

I am a total beginner, I have not cycled for around 34 years, ( she says giving her age away ) but am just loving the bike so much. I am not very fast though.

I am no good at hand signals either, I can signal left, but not right lol no idea why. I am right handed, so find it easier to hold on with the right, while signalling with the left.

When I say 85 miles, that was not all at once, I hope you realise that, it was the accumulated mileage over the week.

Very impressed Jane with your mileage in a week. I am a total beginner myself and often use the Dunfermline-Alloa path. I shall keep an eye out for your pink handlebars. If you see a middle-aged woman on a blue mountain bike puffing and panting and going slow, that will be me! Give me a wave or some encouragement. Love it to bits though and really enjoying being out on the bike (especially when I'm finished!).
And the cycle path does end in the middle of nowhere about 1/2 mile from Clackmannan! Haven't seen any Buckie drinkers yet but did meet two elderly-ish gents with their cans and carry-out! At 1PM! Joy!

And one elderly gentleman cyclist told me that the best time to ride the path was on a dark winters night with the moon up! One invitation I could easily pass up on!

Scots Lass I will indeed keep an eye out for you, I am going today, along that path.

Oh my pink handlebars are so bright haha!! They just guarantee my husband or son never pinch my bike lol

Practise, practise, practise....

I think many of us find it easier to signal one way than the other, but the more you do it, the easier it gets... Find a nice straight bit where you can wobble a bit in safety, and just practise riding with your right hand just off the bars, so that you can grab it quickly. Gradually increase the time you ride one handed, and the distance away you move your hand. Signalling right is probably the more important side to have, for the roads.

I'm impressed with your distance over a week, for so soon in your 'comeback'!

Sweet! Old signal box? I could live in that!

(running joke, my late partner was always pointing out bijou little shacks and saying I could live in them, I have a knack of packing a lot of junk into a small space....)
