Has anyone else noted the increase in 'motoring' 'car; references on this what I thought was a cycling forum.. 2 + wheels.... no engine.. apart from human muscle..

and yes you are right .. don't have a car... no interest in them whatsover ... but I realise I am in a minority

....what do I know...

some of us require a car in order to work , to be able to afford our cycling habit

I joined a caravan forum the other day ( yes we have a caravan ) and one of the members on that forum, it turns out, lives in the next street to me.

Cars indeed are necessary. We are in the motor trade and that is what has paid for my bike

For some people, anyway. Not all...

Anyway, welcome and well done on getting started. Now, learn to stop wobbling, get a copy of the book Cyclecraft, and extend your domain to include the roads.

Proper cycling....

No, I don't mean that, any cycling is good. But being confident and capable of riding on the roads will extend your range, and reduce your reliance on the 4x4 (less cost, apart from anything else). And I'm sure you already are a good driver, but being a good, experienced cyclist improves your driving too - not just in looking out for cyclists, but in honing your anticipation skills. Aim to be that 4x4 driver we comment on because you passed so nice and wide....

but the LAST thing you'll see on the pimp my clio or havent I a savage MGZR forum site is ANY reference to a bleedin' bike apart from arent cyclists a load of tssbags and deserve to dieyieyie..... or is that another generalization... dammit.

The difference is, I think, many many drivers don't cycle, but many, many cyclists do drive - some for necessity, some even for pleasure - as a matter of fact a great many of my cycling friends are very keen on cars, esp classics, along with all things mechanical/engineering.

Well now I feel like a "REAL" cyclist, I have just come home after a 16 mile ride in the absolutely pouring rain, head wind and up hill!! I sit here soaking wet, covered in mud and very very happy!!

Off for a bath now though, I am starting to feel a chill!!

Oh and on the car subject, I have one for fun ( my wee TVR toy ) and one for practical, my Touareg.
