oh indeed. He was happiest embarrassing Ferraris by keeping up with them in his 2CV....

I know what you mean, but I choose to believe Sam is real....

Ah, the deux chevaux, l'escagot, the tin snail, the world's most under-rated sports car. I absolutely loved mine. No acceleration, of course, but it could out brake and out corner everything else on the road... I remember taking off down a twisty country road one summer's evening, just enjoying driving, completely unaware there was a police pursuit car behind me. And I'd still be unaware of it to this day if after ten miles I hadn't had to stop at a give way junction - because they could not stay with me.

The first thing the policeman said to me after I'd pulled over onto the grass was 'well, if you can drive like that, laddie, you're surely not drunk.' He then insisted on me opening up the bonnet so that he could see what souped up engine I had in there. But it was just a bog-standard air-cooled 602cc wasted-spark boxer.

Wonderful little car. As emphatically French as the Derailleur gear, and with the same two fingers attitude to mechanical design: C'est brutal, mais ca marche!

It also, of course, has room for two racing bikes in the back, and that's more than you can say for a lot of small cars!

Just bring the bike and join us in Perth tomorrow...

Did I read that you are covering 44 miles correctly?

Unfortunately I have plans for tomorrow, but will keep an eye out for more days out with you all and join you. It would be nice to have some company, as I am cycling alone just now.

I must look a site, I have pink lipstick and pink handlebars  and it is a mans mountain bike

It's not really that fair, we will stop a far bit along the way, and don't worry you won't look out of place this is not a club run...

Thanks, I did the Dunfermline to Alloa cycle path on Wednesday it was great!:welcome:

That's a nice route (apart from the dog walkers). I've not been down that way in a long time - does the route now finish in Alloa or does it still stop abruptly about a mile out from Clackmannan?

I've not been down that path in a while either I didn't really find it was a problem with dog walkers but one time I went down it there was a line of 20 hunters or so shooting things from the rather than getting their feet dirty.
Edit as far as I know it still stops outside Clackmannan.

To be honest, I have no idea where I was. I asked an old man where I was he said Alloa is there ~ he pointed!

One collie dog on a lead today wanted to chase me, I almost fell off my bike, old guy aplogised, but it was scarey
Everyone is so friendly I love it

You'll soon have a sprint like Mark Cavendish!

I found that all the dog owners were pretty good at making sure their dogs were under control when you passed but a few let their dogs roam way ahead/behind them which can make things a bit hairy.

It's great though for cyclists averse to the roads - just a pity it doesn't join up to anything. I thought with all the work on the new Alloa railway and Clackmannan main road in recent times they would have managed to extend the track into the town.

I bought myself a personal alarm today from the police station. Not sure if any of the ladies on here have them, but felt it may be a good idea, considering the cycle paths I use and twice now have seen young men at the side drinking buckie!

Oh I bought a bag also for the front of my bike, easy unclip waterproof type, from Halfords, ready for the fruit and camera for my jaunts. I also discovered it holds two bottles of wine nicely, I passed the shops on my way home!

I managed 85 miles in total this week, so quite pleased.

Roll on tomorrows bike ride! :-)

They were giving out alarms at a recent event - in the form of a watch ... now whether I remember to wear it when required I don't know.

Better off with a side holster and a baseball bat...

More seriously I find the problem with Neds is that they then smash the Buckie bottles all over the cycle paths, so get good tyres...

Yeah I have seen glass on some of the paths, not alot though fortunately.

Maybe I shall take my dog, a staffy and look like a Ned myself lol

( apologies to any staffy owners out there, but I really do have one. Had staffies for the past 24 years ~ great dogs! ) and no I am not a ned!
