Are there any Boardman Hybrid owners here running mudguards? He recommended the Crud Mk2 Roadracers. I have full SKS Bluemells on my crosser at the moment which are great but the cruds certainly look better, however if they don't cover the tyre properly (700 x 28) they'll not be good for a commuter....

I've got a boardman hybrid pro ltd fitted with full SKS Chromoplastics...I went for the 45mm version cos I've got 35mm cross tyres on for the winter. The front goes on no problem, the rear needed a tiny bit of modification but nothing particularly taxing. Great bikes by the way.

Right i think i'm gradually narrowing things down and will be spending towards the top of my budget;

Boardman Performance hybrid - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_502585_langId_-1_categoryId_165534

Whyte Portebello - http://www.whytebikes.com/2011/bike_page.php?ModNo=W-1-020-11

Merida Speeder i8 - http://www.merida-bikes.com/en_int/bike/2011/107/Fitness+Bike/SPEEDER+i8

The Boardman is obviously well specced and well reviewed and am very tempted, seems ok sitting on it but really wish i could get a decent test ride!

The Whyte is stocked locally but haven't ridden it, something nice about a UK bike though, will get a testride soon!

Had a brief ride on the Merida and was quite impressed, seemed nice and smooth. Like the idea of hub gears and brakes to be honest due to the reduced maintenance, weight isn't really an issue as whatever i get will be racked and have panniers.
