yup, it's road bikes that tend to hold value. For example anyone who bought a CAAD 8 is laughing because no one sold them when they bought a carbon CAAD10 and kept them for rainy days or as a commuter, this means that you can't buy one second hand for less than £700 and it's possible that the prices may even go up on them.

Hybrids do not hold value, this is because although many of us buy them knowing that a hybrid is what we want many many new cyclists buy them and then realise that they want a MTB or a Road bike and then they sell them. MTBs don't hold value that well either, the market is flooded, plus most people don't really want to spend over £150 on non-disc brakes so brand names mean nothing in that price range.

Well I got the Sirrus hybrid. Happy with my decision. Now just gonna get it insured for like £2.80 a month or whatever it is I read earlier! How cheap!

I know you said that you want a hybrid. I started with hybrids too, but I eventually found that the riding position, the wheels, the high rolling resistance of the tyres and the weight of the frame were holding me back. Unless you're really set against drop bars, I would suggest checking out cyclocross bikes before settling on a hybrid.
