Looking at potential house move and wondered if anyone had any experience of Huddersfield Train Station and what cycle facilities there are?

The only chap I know who goes there regularly isn't a cyclist, but he reckons the station is fine in terms of security.

A couple decent locks and you should be fine.

EDIT: There's also a Head of Steam pub in there, which is as good a reason to park your bike there as any!

Cheers chap. Just weighing up options ATM

I'd probably get N+1 of a cheaper beater style bike anyway to make myself feel better rather than leave my main ride in public all day, Thanks:thumbsup:

Whenever I have got the train to/from Manchester to Leeds the cycle stands on the platform at Huddersfield are rammed packed with bikes.

I would have thought, with a couple of strong d locks, you should be fine.

Seems to be OK there. Where are you taking the train to? If it's Leeds they've got CyclePoint, which is secure storage.

CP in leeds I use them now - they're great and well worth the cost (tenner a month if bought in advance) - in fact I only know of 1 bike taken from there and he was caught after been chased across the station by a staff member!

Just weighing up options for a house move, there's some nice stuff within cycling distance of Huddersfield Train Station so just making sure of the key things before I get serious looking.

Not wrong with Huddersfield Station for bike storage. Great area for cycling too, if you like hills.

Heheh I dont mind too much, just not after work lol Trying to find a nice, affordable house that isnt at the top of a huge hill is hard:whistle:

True - I'm through Huddersfield and up Holme Moss most days.

Just a thought ... you could commute by bike from Huddersfield. I do from Dewsbury to Leeds most days.

Yep! Mine's at the top of a hill  , although at least I don't need to ride up it in the commute.

You'll struggle to find one! The town centre is effectively in a bowl. It's four and a half miles as the crow flies to my house, with a 1000 foot climb!
. PM me if you are serious about looking. My job means I may have some tips about where to house hunt.

Opposite way

I do Leeds>Halifax on train ATM after cycling to Leeds, I mapped several routes straight to Halifax but everything just seemed to be v.hilly so I stuck with the train, Ive done it once as a leisure ride but there wasnt much leisure in it for me!

Have you cycled the A644 between Brighouse and Dewsbury, is it ok commuter route or something a bit rude so to speak?
