Curious really. Mine was £650 in a sale and I think originally retailed at about £900. It pretty much does me, I don't hanker after carbon or ti and I don't do expedition touring, nor mtn bike to a high enough standard to need a full susser. So all in all a relatively modest spend for a decent'ish bike.

Paid just under the 2K mark for my new bike. It's a total pleasure ride bike rather then a utility one.
Wanted it for a while so managed to save up for it and with not renewing my football s/t the money went towards the bike.

£50 but there again I have effectively rebuilt every bike I own. I don't keep a running total of what I spend on bike bits but I don't get carried away and repair/re-use everything I can and don't buy high end parts.

I'll add a poll option for that, it's a good point

To replace my current best bike like for like would be over 4k, and that's not with fancy wheels.

The Frame was £450 20 years ago - similar price to Colnagos at the time

Dura Ace throughout

Pedals were £120 a pair back then also - Record Carbon.

At the time (20 years ago) it cost about £1,800 to build

It's been pretty good value though over 20 years.

My training bike is worth about £1k - off the peg Ribble with Ultegra - so similar to today's Ribble Sportive

Barnet,
Mine is a Condor Italia I treated myself to 5 years back, £ 1700. It is a lovely bike and so far has only cost me a new cassette and chain for the Campag Veloce groupset.

A few quid shy of a grand as I recall. Obviously, it's had bits added/replaced since I bought it 5 years ago though. Still going strong.... touch wood.

I'd love to try out titanium with a view to buying (I've decided for titanium over carbon fibre for my uses) but I doubt I'll ever have the money to justify/afford it.

The retail on mine would be around the 6k mark. Thankfully, working in the industry, I only ended up paying about 2.5 for the whole build

My ti summer bike probably came to about £2,500 (Bianchi frame reduced from £1250 to £800 in Evans sale, Dura Ace, dt swiss hand builts), it was a significant improvement in comfort and handling on the Caad 5 it replaced.

Having said that, I get as much pleasure riding my 30 year old steel framed fixed which cost about £250 to build.
