Yes - agreed, but it costs more so no chance anytime soon!
I am not sure it does.

BLT and Polaris were doing 3 led rear that was a sealed divers light with a labyrinth seal head unit and that was plastic.

At the minute the likes of Exposure are offering the threaded and sealed tube construction lights but they are charging through the nose for what is in effect a torch, Fenix do a good light for the money but they aren't quite the same as a purpose built set as they don't do cheap red rears, other than that it's the cheap yet powerful ebay stuff from deal extreme which can be lottery quality wise.

There is certainly a middle ground there for a company to fill and steal a march on Cateye.

Sissies.

real men are not afraid of the dark.

No lights.

I do not ride in the dark, scary enough in the daylight.

I tend to put a smear of silicon grease on the seals of anything electical or electronic, irespective of its construction, if it's going outdoors. That said I'd agree that most cycle kit is very badly designed for something that's going to have to withstand all sorts of weather and temperatures. That includes lights, computers, and electronic 'bells'.

Four on my commuter. A Schmidt Edelux on the front and a Busch and Muller Toplight Plus on the rear rack both on all the time and run from a SON hub, a five LED Cateye flashing on the head tube and a 1 watt Polaris flashing on the seapost for when it gets dark. No bugger is going to get away with saying they didn't see me!
