@16, Little Chef, waiting tables and cooking, then foolishly turned down a trainee managers offer.
@16/17, labourer, building trade
@17,landrover driver, cable layer and explosives detonator,(coal surveying in the Vale of Belvoir)
@18, a couple weeks packing straw into bags on a farm. Piece work, i earned fook all.
@18, a couple different labouring jobs in the building trade.
A short time self employed somewhere in there as well.
@19, Storeman in an engineering dept within a food processing factory. Progressed through 23 years to buyer, administrator for the dept until redundancy.
@42ish, onto the tools as a maintenance engineer (training). Within 5 years i was working short term each year in Cyprus, Spain, Uruguay, Egypt on the companys equipment.
@52, into my current company, same job but factory based.

School holiday job: cleaning fish tanks in a pet importers
University holiday job: door-to-door campaigning and lobby work for Ralph Nader's Public Interest Research Group in DC.
Post-university: zoological research, administration for Oxfam and other smaller charities and plenty of unemployment, ran a market stall, worked behind a bar, roadied for bands, then taught English in a a high school in Japan.
During MA: Research Assistant
During PhD: Lecturer
Post-PhD: Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Lecturer, Reader (all in the same university) now Associate Professor and national Research Chair (in a different university in a different country).

+ plenty of voluntary work over the years, including running a local credit union and teaching English to refugees.

Spent 2 years fitting car alarms/audio after leaving uni 1999/2000 - was stressful and crap money,
Got an electronics job in a factory - lasted 3 months and got made redundant,
Then got a job in Bristol repairing medical equipment, relocated after 18 months back to Devon and been doing the same job ever since.

And that`s my career summed up..............

It depends if you include holiday jobs as a student. If you do, I've had dozens because I used to work for an industrial staff bureau. Of salaried jobs I've had only three:

1980 to 1985 - Export sales in London.
1985 to 1987 - Sales in Paris
1988 to present (and certainly to retirement in 2022) - Export sales in Manchester.
