I'm a train driver, so still working, but not so much as there is a very much reduced service round here. Today I've been working from home for the 1st time ever  We have 2 safety days a year, which entail watching safety videos & being briefed on varies studies/subjects & rules amendments. With all classroom training suspended, these briefs are now done at home. So this morning I've watched a couple of videos & read through the safety brief & completed the assessment, out for my daily hours exercise this afternoon :sun:

I'm currently only working as and when needed, which isn't often. I work for an airline (not a UK one) on the risk management side. Just doing bits really, as and when they come in, cargo charters, quick risk assessments for unusual places where we're being asked to go, it's only taking up about 2 hours per day in total.

In my company we were asked to consider a furlough (UK employees of the airline are eligible), or consider whether we could reduce our working week or daily hours and take a commensurate pay reduction. We didn't have to, but most are doing one or the other, I'm doing the latter so my money is down by 25%. I'm good with that, it's infinitely better than being unemployed.
I only know of one colleague who isn't volunteering for either, and that's fine. I'd like to think when the times get even leaner (which they will), and redundancy is needed, those that didn't want to help the company are the first ones approached.

Been asked to take a day's annual leave every week for the coming weeks - so we don't all build up a backlog of leave and want to take it when the lock-down is over and work volumes return to normal.

We've been advised to but I've been so over-worked in the past 18 months that I'm still using up last year's Sept-August leave. There's no chance of taking leave at the moment.

I am quite busy for the next two or three weeks but might take some time after that because if I store it up I won't have a chance to take it anyway.

Been asked to take a day's annual leave every week for the coming weeks - so we don't all build up a backlog of leave and want to take it when the lock-down is over and work volumes return to normal. With Easter and various bank holidays in May, that's four day weeks for the forseeable. Which is nice. Not so good when the lock-down is over and all those travel companies want us to book holidays - we won't have enough leave until next year!
Didn't Boris announce that everyone has the right to spread annual leave over 2 years?

we have an enforced wellness day to take this or next week, almost all of us have tacked that on to the bank holiday weekend to give 5 days off and I have to say I really need it, the relentless work load day & night seven days a week has taken it toll on my and my colleagues, to the point where the phone ringing makes you shudder.

I popped out for a quick ride at lunch time and my phone rang and buzzed the entire time with calls, slack, whatsapp and emails, its like drinking from a firehose.

5 days off i WILL be riding sans work phone and for more than an hour

Well, as of next week I've just been put on furlough till the end of May (as it stands atm).

Still loads of work to do, but the company has decided to halt all software Dev for the foreseeable.

Better than the alternatives I suppose, and I'm lucky in that we can manage on 80% of my income. Mrs kes already compiling an extensive list of things to keep me occupied and amused for the next few weeks

Spoke too soon. Despite our order books being good until the end of June, the management team believe customers will start cancelling. So have requested we all go to a four day week, with the appropriate pay cut. This is on the back of redundancies to streamline the workforce as a result of the Brexit downturn, morale on site is really low this week.

Meant to be back at work after the Bank Holiday after 3 weeks furlough, waiting to hear if it is happening yet though as a lot depends on delivery of RM from China and Italy, will also depend on what Ford and JLR decide on in their plants. Been promised upto 8 weeks on 100% pay so not bothered tbh.
