Fitted one of those rain guards for the garage door. Hopefully it will stop driving rain entering the inside. It has a hump to sit behind the roller shutter. Exterior grade silicon sticking it down. I used a profile jig to get the shape around the shutter guide rails.

Let me know @CXRAndy if they are any good please. Considering getting one!

My Saniflow suffered some foreign object damage. Now that is is fully boxed in customised cabinets, removing it is a PITA .
I took it out, cleaned the insides, reinstalled but still malfunctioned.
My Sanifli guy repaired it, cleared the drainage pipework, but I have to refit this Devils Foodmixer.

Failed DIY at 06.30 this morning.
Locked the front door last night.
Unlocked it this morning to walk the dog.
Unable to lock it 1 hour later on the way out to work.

Open the door, lock operates, close the door, lift the handle, turn the key, it's not making full travel so somethings off. Work beckons, decided I'd look at it tonight.
Wife needed to go out so we decided for one of the very few times in 25 years of home ownership...to pay someone to fix it.
Locksmith took less than 10 minutes, hinge had dropped...£108.

Too steep IMO. I dont know what locksmiths charge but no call out fee...what's what's locksmith charge? 1 hour minimum? Plus travel...maybe £70 would seem more appropriate?
No problem, problem solved, but it reminds me why I've hardly ever, ever paid someone to do something I would have almost certainly solved given more time.

Oof, it's why I try and solve it - I know you would have done, but 'the boss' and time....

How dare those lowly tradesman earn a living🙄
Factor in their experience, vehicle, tools, insurance, van stock, pension etc.
He's not pocketing all that as take home money.

Yeh yeh, but when you can do it, it's a bit of a kick in the goolies. My sister and BIL can't do anything, so have a list of trades folk that fix their house and caravan. Me, I can do most stuff. Difference is, my sis is loaded and no kids, me got kids (adult) and not loaded.

Still expensive, IMO taking the proverbial, I know all about costs having done 8 years self employed, this was an opportunity to make a sting.

Me too, I fix things outside my remit to save a few £ where possible.
It's a bit unfair to bemoan bona fide tradespeople a living.
I've been self employed for 37 years, so have a very good understanding of work required & the break down of costings. Circa £100 is about correct for a customer visit, diagnose an issue & make a repair. If you were charging less, then its not a sustainable business based on 4-5 calls a day.

Plastic door expanding in the heat? Raising the hinge may have resolved it, but is heat the problem?
We have similar with our French doors in hot weather - I adjusted the hinges and cured it last year - more Global Warming this year?
