Having looked at a Kodiaq earlier last year when we got an 'itch' which in the end, we didn't scratch, I suspect to get decent economy out of them, you'd need the diesel top end models. I think the one we looked at had a small turbo petrol engine and while it's stated economy was 'ok'...the reality is you'd probably have to knock 5mpg of, plus the big car / small engine scenario always makes me nervous.

I'd love one but never been keen on owning a diesel...but as above, small engines in big cars, I'm not keen either.

Think the 2.0 TDI is pretty sorted tbh. It's old tech by today's standard. The 180 bitdi in the caravelle / pickup wasn't good tbh.

The more powerful Transporter/Caravelle engines had some serious issues, and as good as they perform are to be avoided. Thwtsnwhy I went for the 110 - it's keeps up with traffic well enough and does mid 40s MPG, but is mechanically simple and robust.

I have one
Mine's the 2,0TDi (140BHP)/6-speed manual/4x4/5-seater
An average MPG on brimming the tank is at least 53

Sometimes, I get even better figures!
