Its been a massive problem in Australia and America. Its already cost them $millions and it only just started.
There was a real smelly case (maybe the one you refer to) in Oldham....I know the details for absolute fact.
I also know for an absolute fact.........years ago every congregation in the UK has letters from head office instructing them, if there is any accusation of child abuse it is to be dealt with by local elders DO NOT GET THE POLICE INVOLVED.
Copies of those letters are surely still around.
Going to cost them megabucks here as well in the end?

Not any JWs at the door for years.
Lloyd Evans wrote of his experiences in The Reluctant Apostate.

That has been the attitude of pretty much all religions for many years.

a lot of it sounds like pretty much all religions for many years, the crusades, christian missionaries, Catholicism in general.

About 18 months back, i noticed a couple of JW hanging about outside my local commuter trai station every morning. very uninstrusive, but always there.

The case I referred to was in Hartlepool, although it had the same elements of, er, self-regulation.

An anti-Jehovah's Witness campaigner in the public gallery blotted his copybook by trying to take a photo - he got the back of the head of the bloke in front of him, although he was presumably aiming for something else.

What with one thing and another, it was one of more memorable child abuse cases, most of which run to a sad but predictable pattern.

Some handwritten letters from JWs might fetch a pretty penny at auction:

Barnet,
I have received a letter, hand written, several weeks back. My son also got one a couple of days earlier. It must be the latest recruitment drive to get to the promised land.

Well I feel quite left out!

No letters, no callers.

Maybe they can pick up the atheist, heathen, tolerant vibes from the pavement.

With the latest pronouncement from the Vatican on homosexuality, they don't seem to have any great desire to move forward.
The questioning/rejection of religion has been going on since the enlightenment - apart from a core of devoted, they are now pretty much an irrelevance. Many seem to have implicitly admitted defeat this last year.
