I suppose because he's asked a lot of stuff in the past and people have given a lot of good advice that appears to have not been taken? And CC is full of people just waiting to make sh***y Snyde remarks?
You're not wrong about that mate.
You see it happen on here a lot, and it pi**es me off.

Well the miles are up. Good stuff. A good £500ish set of wheels, some quality stiff carbon shoes, good bar tape, good saddle. All important.

I'd personally be worried about a mega expensive set of wheels for training as the roads are crap. Also remember that superlight wheels have thinner alloy so bear in mind if you are out in all weather's as you will wear out the rims.

I personally prefer hand built wheels.

Which wheels are you thinking of? Not aware of any which compromise on braking surface.

The Dura Ace C24 has a thinner breaking surface. It's worth checking others. Ksyriums don't.

You are often best having cheaper wheels for poor weather and bling ones for nicer days. Or of course extra bikes.

No it doesn't. The aluminium is thin-walled where it is combined/overlayed with carbon composite, but the braking surface is a normal thickness. If it wasn't, then the bead would not be structurally capable of supporting tyres at high pressure.

Hey @jamma, I got beat last night in a 13 mile hilly TT by a guy with £1750 worth of zipp's by 4 seconds. I've got a secondhand Planet X 101 on the rear and a superstar 30mm alloy rim on the front, my whole bike including the wheels cost £1000.
I beat him by 34 seconds two weeks ago in a 10 TT. ^_^

They both take part in time trials.
You must be really bored if that affects you so much.

Do thes expensive wheels make you a better rider ? Is there a difference between my 120 quid wheel set and a 1500 quid wheel set.

When I was replacing the wheels that got buckled on my MTB I was horrified at prices per wheel. The 120 set were no heavier than the 300 set and ran as smooth on bearings.

I always thought eddy mercx summed it up pretty well with . Don't buy upgrades , ride up grades.
