Not counting paper rounds, mine was working 6 - 6 on Bolton market cutting up frozen chickens  Only did it twice due to the horrific pay. 12 hours = £12! (FYI this was 1988).

Then glass collector/bar filler uperer in a pub/hotel. This progressed into full time employment from school and I was there for 8 years after working my way upto Deputy Manager

"Assistant Estate Handiman" - ie the dogsbody's dogsbody's dodgsbody, on a local estate ..... no, not that kind of estate! A proper one, owned by an absentee toff. Mowing grass, cleaning cars (some real classy ones), veggie gardening in a very old walled garden, beating for grouse and pheasant, painting gates, brushing trees. No two days the same --- happy times

My mates dad had a small holding and kept pigs and poultry used to help muck the pigs out every day and make up the pig swill in a big wood burning boiler.Great days going to the various markets for the waste food sat in the back of an open trailer darting along country lanes no health and safety. My pay was one pig at the end of the fattening season we would take them to the slaughter house and, well you probably know the rest.
