Evenin' all, thought I'd pop my head round the door with a brief intro...
I'm Graham, presently residing in Norfolk. Just returned to cycling after spending the last 7 years driving everywhere (long story!) Presently work as a Lab tech, a career I've returned to having down-shifted my whole life after 20 years of stress and boredom in IT.
Having rejected all the bikes I found in the shops, I opted for the "Bitsa" route and via Fleabay and the LBS, I built what you'd probably call a cross between a hybrid and a roadster (if Roadsters still exist). Basically one of those slopey-top tube ally frames with 700c thin wheels and lots of mudguards and racking, topped off with north road bars and a big comfy saddle (a genteman reaches a certain age, etc), and gearing via 6-speed bog standard shimano (Norfolk ain't got 21-speed terrain!). It's my ride-to-work and wander-round-the-lanes machine to get me back into shape in a gentle way.
Got a few bike-related projects lined up for the winter; first is to build a trailer to get the dogs down the forest, but they're hefty German Shepherd's so off-the-shelf trailers are out of the question (all too small). Second project is to build a 1930s sports bike replica. I've always loved the look of them and really fancy one as a Sunday afternoon treat for myself, so work has begun finding a donor bike (probably an old roadster).
I look forward to making a few acquaintances along the way.
Cheers,
Graham
