Nice, good attempt at getting back on topic. As you have now volunteered to be a crash test dummy could you please attempt the same accident again this time not wearing a helmet. I think however on balance it is not fair to use the same cat again and a badger would be fine as a replacement.

Christ no! I've learned my lesson, thats my point... but the helmet dissenters can feel free... but please, for the sake of scientific accuracy we must use the same fat ginger bastard of a cat!!

No thanks - I prefer an evidence based approach. Fortunately Cook and Sheikh [1] showed that every helmet worn protects two people so as long as someone else is wearing one, I don't need to ;)

Which clearly goes to show how ridiculous interpretation of statistics / reports can be!

Not if you read them properly. Although they deny it to any competent scientist they have just shown that their data is badly confounded and therefore any conclusions unsafe. Its only members of the Church of the True Believers, such as Crook and Feikh, who would try to claim the results are nevertheless still valid (as they do)

But ITS MY CHOICE not to wear a helmet. I do not go on to forums lecturing others that it's safe to not to wear a helmet like you have done with you lecturing people to wear a helmet .

There's no guarantees wearing a helmet, but based on experience its my belief that it must be better than no helmet... Its your choice entirely. Actually you are preaching / lecturing your alternative view too. But like I say, its your choice...

Why all the anger from the anti-helmet brigade? I just don't understand...

Because there are serious attempts frequently made to remove their freedom of choice, usually based on just the sort of "I had a crash, the helmet broke, therefore it saved my life" emotional anecdotes that we have seen here.

No-one is trying to take away the freedom of choice of someone who wants to wear a helmet, but those who choose not to - that choice is constantly under threat!

Far from lecturing others. I merely said it's my choice. No where have I preached/lectured an alternate view.

Don't know why we always get to this - there is no anti-helmet brigade.

So what we saying Ian? Helmets are better than no helmets? You choose to wear or not wear a helmet?

Other than saying we should have freedom of choice, what is your actual opinion???

Haha, class. But you forgot the succussing - you need to bash each dilution of helmet against a special leather cushion to activate its magic energy.

For this particular preparation a Brooks B17 saddle is preferred to the cushion. Of course it does have to have a fresh coating of proofide beforehand to make it effective.

Now can I interest you in some of the other products in the cycling range?

The latest is the Quantum Excited Stainless Steel Wheel. Available in 26", 700c and now in traditional 27". This uses the fine molecular structure of the steel, together with that of the rubber brake blocks supplied free of charge with every order, to give you the benefit of going faster in the wet! particularly effective when going down steep hills in thunderstorms and guaranteed to work every time.

Do people on this forum broadly agree that wearing helmets on a motorbike is safer than no helmet? Just trying to understand the issues here...
