Don't really want to get into the blame game...Cav said he lost his wheel on the white lines.Hell of a save on the barriers by the guy in green though !

I don't have a clue whose fault it was. I never do. But that was a heck of a bike throw to secure 5th (now 4th) place.

and I can’t understand why Cav didn’t GO GO GO when he made that move left!

(Clearly I’m not a sprinter and know nothing but this armchair fan is confused)
It's not as clear from some angles but that " move left" was him rescuing the bike after losing the back wheel on the white line at 60+ kph. He'd lost momentum, if not his lunch, so seemed resigned to slipstream in for a top ten, until he was clipped.

Cav lost his back wheel on the white line before that, saved it, then Dainese rode through his front wheel, moving left before he'd finished passing. I'm surprised they punished it because Cav was already losing ground on the winner, but it's a correct judgment.

When I am riding in the wet, not often admittedly, I will do my utmost to avoid white paint on the road. I realize this is probably not high on a pro sprinters list of priorities, however, is it not the job of the DS or other non riding flunky, to remind the fast guys to stay away from the right hand side of the road if there are white lines there?

Today, more of the same, albeit in the dry, so less crashy? Or does our fave goat man speed away to take first set of mountain points and then hide back in the bunch and let the sprint teams take control? Or is there any chance of a decent break happening cos the peloton may want to take it easy after yesterday?

Looks like the weather forecast today is still showery but not as rainy as yesterday. For what that's worth.

Cavendish for one, and probably the other sprinters too, is known to be meticulous about studying the details of the sprint. But I guess a lot of that goes out of the window when you're trying to get and maintain the best position and whizzing along at a zillion kmh.

heh-heh! I'm assuming this is why he hung onto his bars - the front of his bike bagged him the place. (If he'd crossed the line detached from his machine, would he have been placed at the back of that group?)

p.s. how come more people are talking about the bloody dog than Orla's outfit?!? ❤️
