I can see it's his idea. But all he had to do was nip down to the local shops and buy a good toy horse and say...'there you go that's my plan'
More creativity, thought and intelligence will go into the engineering and actual construction of the thing. I suspect as far as the nuts and bolts of the real thing will go he will be just a bit part player.

colly said:Yes I understand that, but as with all these large projects it is the engineers ingenuity, and construction workers nous that actually get the thing built.
Granted the artist has the original idea but as for getting it to 'work' ...well there is the real artistry. Many dismiss that as 'mere craft' but without the understanding of what is actually possible bright artistic ideas on a grand scale will always be just that .....'ideas'.
I'm sure Mark Wallinger is a good artist even a great one, it's just a shame the artistic media appear to show little appreciation of the people who really make the thing possible.

Arch said:I love that heavy horse. I love the Angel of the North too. Not sure about the mock up of thisnew thing, but will wait and see what actually transpires. I think it would be nice if it looked like it had just walked off the Bayuex tapestry.
You can't beat Uffington though.
