Game: Name that road!

I was thinking more of the name that @Mr Celine had given the photograph!

Assuming that it wasn't a complete red herring, and that there isn't another Floors Castle to consider, I am taking it as a hint to explore the nearby lanes. I have already found similar-looking walls in the area but not the actual location.

He's a cunning farker, with his distracting gear cables, I reckon it's a red herring and he's reeled you in 🎣

Err, I did once post a NTR without having changed the file name first. Some devious person got it straight away, so ever since I have taken the precaution of changing the filename to somewhere different.

It's nowhere near Floors Castle.
So far away in fact that it's given me an idea for a first clue.

According to Google maps cycling from the gate at Floors Castle found by @Alex321 to the gate in my NTR would take 39 hours.

That's not how the 'directions' feature in googlemaps works. My NTR location is somewhere on (not within) a rough arc about 39 hours ride from Floors Castle at whatever speed google uses for calculating cycling time.

if google maps used 10mph, and you could cycle in a straight line (over hills and water) then lands end is 390 miles away - so Lands End

39 hours in google maps cycling time would bring you to the south of England, possibly between the Cotswolds and the coast, eg. these directions from Floors Castle to Salisbury.

Googlemaps, of course, learns from the user, so adjusts it's speed, we'll all get different distances. 39 hours gets me to the top of the Galibier or thereabouts.

Almost twice the 720 miles, up 8660 ft ... on a tandem. Impressive!!

Back to the pic. If the gate piers are sandstone, it could be any where from Bath up to York. But the workmanship is of a high quality and quite specific. Not your run of the mill gentry.

I haven't actually ridden along this road but I have ridden a tricycle up and down the driveway as far as the gates.

BTW Googlemaps says 35 hours to cycle from Floors to Bath so you haven't gone far enough.
