*feels sick*..

Been mapping for the past couple of days, a route up to York and back from Hull with long Mart... comes in at about 540miles... Thats kinda nuts isn't it? Exactly how many kebabs will be consumed too in this process is scaring me and my belly.. needless to say, I'll be single speeding it too.. IF, I do it... bloody nora..
Are you taking the scenic route? It's only 264 from this 'ere sofa to the mates' place in Tollerton (10 miles NW of York). And no, I will not be riding, I have two train tickets and they're getting used.

Edit: 506 still sounds a bit high to me....more like it though!

Well I'm happy to be the Toto to your Lone Ranger.
I think you'd be playing Toto to McShroom's Dorothy. Or Tonto to his Lone Ranger. Best ask.

To be fair Marcus, he did say it was a "mad group". So he was half right. It wasn't a group.
It might also include me, your pace permitting.... Fare back to York from Hull is £20 (!) so I'm thinking of riding all the way back to Tollerton (50 miles). Overall average of 14-15 mph easily doable on that terrain for me & would mean I'd only spend an hour longer travelling than the train/bike combo.

Sorry - that's not quite the situation.

I've successfully used this to cancel and get refunds on FCC and East Midlands trains.

I don't doubt that, Adam - This was the bit that made me think the money back guarantee wouldn't work with journeys on other TOCs:

"All other ticket types are not included in this offer, these are: Daysave, Downlander, Season Tickets, and non-Southern Advance tickets (Advance tickets for travel on trains other than Southern) "

Good point Mr J. I must have had "bought on the day" tickets.
FD's phone was playing up and he hasn't had a chance to clarify that info.... He reckons the T&Cs have been changed recently - he seems to recall the policy used to be called the "Rainy Day guarantee".

I've done advance purchases using Southern's website, for tickets on FCC's line, and got refunds. I did this mostly recently in December 2012, so 1st January 2013 may have brought in changes. Ties in with their abandoning Quidco (that lovely 6% cashback was beginning to add up)... all in the name of "customer improvements".

That's a little bit quick for me I'm afraid, although I agree it is flat (after the climb out of Hull at the start). I'm looking at more like 12-13 mph myself based on previous years

No problem- I'll probably see what the weather's like on the Saturday morning before making my mind up anyway!

Thanks for that, Rebecca. Like all things (I'm thinking M&S contents insurance - grrrrrrrrrrrr!) these things are in a state of flux....
Caveat emptor, and all that....
