the Southern website has a tick-box for bike reservations. Some other websites don't. I recommend Southern because I get possibly thirty or forty e-mails a year asking about bike reservations - and I can give the same answer every time. That's not a recommendation for the company, which is run by bike-hating loons (see also Olympic Bike Ban)
I always use Southern to book tix but I wish I'd known that - there have been numerous occasions I've taken the price of a cancelled trip on the chin. And another big plus for booking train tickets via the Southern Railways web site, is that they do a Money Back guarantee, whereby providing you haven't yet picked up your tickets, you can cancel them (obviously before the booked time/day), without any penalty, for any reason, and get a full refund, no matter what train operator they're actually for.
Indeed there are.Read carefully! There are exclusions.
Not me, I'm on the 11:40, with bikespace.
Indeed there are.
The most significant of which is that the Money Back Guarantee applies to the plethora of ticket types availbale from only Southern.
The no quibble guarantee does not apply to tickets bought through Southern for use on other TOCs routes - So in my case I wouldn't receive a refund for my canned rail journey from Leicester , nor for my postponed trip up to Embra a couple of years ago.
As is always the case: The large print giveth and the small print taketh away. Or something.
This offer is valid for tickets booked on southernrailway.com for any journey and for travel on any train operator, for the following ticket types:
Anytime
Anytime Day
Off-Peak
Off-Peak Day
Super Off-Peak Day
Southern Advance (Advance tickets for travel on Southern trains only)
To be fair Marcus, he did say it was a "mad group". So he was half right. It wasn't a group. You may indeed, although so far that group seems to consist of just me
I did not know that. I wish I had done. Although, to be honest, I haven't lost money. But it is a very useful thing to know.
