I'm getting in to York at 10pm ish, and would like to hang out with some CCers - I see some will be in the Rook & Gaskill & the Victoria(Vaults?) has been mentioned too.

Are there any other pubs people are planning to be in?

Erm quite possibly the Postern Gate (which is a weatherspoons) which is also very close by to those other two and the golden fleece which is bang in in the middle of town.

If not then we'll have to be in two groups and meet up half way .

Aye, I'm going to try and find the Rook and Wotsit, looks easy enough from Google Maps. See you somewhere!

Kats, Marilyn, Sig and I will be arriving in York at 21.21, so it would be good to fix a meeting point so we don't have to trawl around the pubs...

I used to live opposite the Rook and Wotsit, only it was the Queen then, and we used to spend Saturday evening watching people being thrown out.

It's improved since then!

If I'm back in York before chucking out time, I might head to the Rook, but I suspect I'll be more likely to just be lurking around the Minster.

Hellair! I'm there already and have, as yet, absolutely nothing to report on good footie pubs. But I've found fine Continental beers, and a superb bar with bottles of everything imaginable and all manner of wonderful noodley soupy spicy things. And the sun is shining.

Richmond to York is pancake-flat. Brilliant. I had time to stop for tea twice, and two pints of somebody-or-other's Hambleton Ale, and still made it here for lunch. I guarantee it will be sunny .

Taking the route that's on the gps file here.

I should be here by about 10:30 tomorrow, if anybody wants to join me for the trip to York from Sheffield.

Or you can pop by my house tomorrow at about 9am when I'm setting off.

My mobile number is 07528312538 (Real name Matthew) if you want to ring me when I'm on the road to meet up.

if you're already there, why not nip out to the Sutton bridge and have a word with the security guard. I've received an assurance from East Riding Highways that

a) there will be 24 hour security
 the contractor knows we're coming
c) the security guard will let us through

but..........if he or she isn't up to speed then we're in for a big detour!

(I do have a plan B, but it's not a very good one)

the weather forecast looks brilliant - especially for those of us going south from Cleethorpes.
