Plan B is the one where I persuade a speedy person to whizz down to the bridge, while we trundle along - and then, if the bridge is closed, we divert north, east and south. It adds four or five miles to the trip.

In my fridge I have 3 orange and lemon cakes, 3 chocolate and banananananana cakes (filled with chocolate ganache) and 4 chocolate and cherry jam cakes. Each approximately the dimensions of a house brick - although somewhat less weighty.
