Unless there's another Ross C, you'll need to remove me from the list Simon. (We exchanged emails earlier in the week).
Have a good ride all!

It's a bit more complicated than that...
if we're on the towpath at 2.49 we'll get a good view.

now...........there are some holes. There are bollards. And there are stupid sustrans gates. Say after me........................
"Can someone give us a hand with the tandem?"

tandems won't be the problem. The problem is that my shoulders barely get through. We're going to have to get the axle grease and crowbars out for Titus!

Always at opposition
and if we're passing through Belvedere or thereabout at 1.12am, it'll be worth a glance up in the southern sky (55 degrees up) to see one of the little Iridium satellites glinting at us for a few seconds

and as some of us watch for the ISS rising up behind us, others can be on th lookout for a super-bright iridium flare 49 degrees up in the SE sky at 2.48:47

in case you needed anything further to take your mind off the road

She's not the only one

ah. I don't know.

Kim is the one person who is going to be affected by this, but then we manage on the Felpham ride just fine - I'm assuming that three strong people will simply lift her trike over. Having said that........a key would be handy for the most unutterably stupid get just east of Gravesend. There are bits of NCN1 which are so daft I'm going to go round them, but User10571 and I always reckoned that using the cycle path would put twenty minutes on the ride.

I'm available for all the usual stuff, for the usual fee.
From memory the Sustrans gates along the canal are a combination of the shoulder bargers and the crank/shin/ankle bashers (depending on the orientation of the first).
Non are insurmountable.
I need to change the pedals on my bike of choice for tonight, as the Carbon/Ti Look Keos, after 26,000 miles or so, have about 25° of float - especially the left one.
I could be in Chatham, twist my foot in the pedal and my heel would still be in Rochester.

Looking at the Space Weather, the sun is quite active at the moment, with a fair number of sunspots and a damned big coronal hole, so there's definitely a risk of a large CME. The field magnitude looks to be just starting to increase at the moment, the proton density is gong up, and the speed in dropping, all of which is indicative of something coming this way, although it's too early to say how big it'll be. Does that help satisfy the need for a weather update? ^_^

That's better than anything Wincey Willis or John Kettley or even Judith who does the Scottish weather for the BBC has ever served up :sun:
