I'm afraid the Safety Sirens don't do gaudy ornamentation. I've been instructed by Her Stylishness that black is the new black. We shall be communicating the necessary luminosity by sheer chutzpah.

Is sheer chutzpah anything like sheer stockings? Enquiring minds and all that.

verily, Team Tim will be the FNRttC's answer to Olafur Eliasson! http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

(I'm hoping for Anne, Marna and Miranda's cover of the Supremes' 'Let the Sunshine in')

I saw that when it was at Tate Modern. We'd gone to that London for the day and wandered into the Tate Modern, straight into the turbine hall. Jaw drops to the floor. Golly. I remember thinking if I'd made that, I wouldn't need to do anything else, my life would be complete.

As for the Supremes, watch this space.

Whilst I'm not going to carry much different from my normal commuting tool kit, after we've crossed Clapham Common, the ride will start to spread out, and we'll have the mechanics and minibus at the rear, so it would seem daft for me to try and deal with any mechanicals which they'll be in a better position to deal with. I'll move up the field a bit, and try and stay somewhere more in the "middle" (wherever that'll be!), and at least have a chance of helping to deal with any problems before the mechanics et al catch up, which presumably could even be over the order of an hour or two later, if the ride really spreads out.

The weather looks like it'll be very good. Addmitedley there's a slight headwind, but the temperature is going to be mild, to say the least! I may well wear a long sleeved jersey, simply because it may be a bit brisk to wear a short sleeved jersey when standing around waiting for stuff, but I doubt I'll need more than that one layer! (... or gloves, or overshoes, or waterproofs)

It should be a fun evening.

It's not so much a gradient thing as a "squashed by a ****-off great truck" thing.

Ah, I see what you mean. By "stop at the bottom", it sounded like some steep hill which I'd managed to miss on the previous occasions!

I don't think I'll have time to decorate my junction, it's probably only about a mile from the start! I'll just stick with my normal array of ludicrously bright lights and maybe put the Dinotte on in mad seizure inducing flashing mode (someone remind me to kill it on the ride, unless I'm by myself in the middle of nowhere, or the actual physical TEC).

Having seen your Dinotte in action, I suspect you'll know when someone's behind you.

Just listen for the cries of pain: "AARGH!! My eyes!!!"

I mostly won't use mine, but the battery needs to be on the bike anyway, and it'll be connected to a Y-piece and fed into a spare front light.

I can arrange to turn it on just in front of User10571 however, since he'll obviously be missing his.

I am in something of a quandary.. Am down to marshall at mitcham common toilets then head home (arranged before 2.0 aka m0lly arrived). Now though, I have a pass to head to Brighton and really fancy a good ride but.... Have been on holiday for last 2 weeks and haven't been on the bike in 3. Also am chuffing knackered due to holiday's with kids not exactly being relaxing....

What to do? Would feel crap if I bailed like last time out to Brighton.

Grrr Mumble Grrrrrr
First bcak at work today after 6 weeks off, woke at 4am, couldn't get bcak off to sleep properly, just as about to doze back off i'd wake in a panic i'd actulay been alseep & overslept

Arrived rather bleary eyed & half dead..:tired:much like everyone else so didn't feel too bad - Luckily there's no kids in til Monday, so zombie like behaviour was acceptable - and found that one of my colleagues did indeed sign up :wahhey:

Had a made a mental plan that would finish work at 15.00, dropping my bubs at their dads at 16.00, home to make sure bike all ok, check tyres, fit lights etc & then have a few hours kip before catching the 21.39 train tonight
Why do plans never go according to plan...?

Home from work, #1 son needs dropping off in Brighton, phone ex to say will drop #2&3 off slighlty later, only when we get there he not in... Finlay get home at 17.30 to discover that #1 borrowed my MTB, and he took the front lights & saddle bag off it when he locked it up at at work... In a secure compound..?
He has left the damn things in his locker at work, but can't understand why i'm mad as i'm riding the Spesh tonight, not the MTB.... "So i don't need lights any then..?" I shout down the phone "Oh, sowry" he mumbles.
So with less than 3 hours til I leave, I have no main lights, no saddle bag - Spare tubes, tyre levers, multi-tool etc, plus my mitts where in there too and i'm running on about 4 hours sleep.
If anyone see's a red haired, red coated lass face down in a ditch about 2am, could you give her a poke & possibly a nice hot coffee...??
