That reminds me - The Lovely Amy is a friend of mine who is enroute from Guernsey to New Zealand (some of you met her at last year's do at the Cheshire Cheese). My default plan is to come down from Swansea with two bikes, but it's a bit of a logistical issue and I'm in trouble if the train guard gets all jobsworth about it. Plus I would need to get new tyres before I let my commuter out on a night ride. So I'm fishing to borrow a suitable bike from someone in town as an alternative. She'd bring it back to London on Saturday. She's about 5'6, and I would be inclined to err on the side of smallness. Any offers, kind FNRttCpeeps?

I have just bought my Hybrid back home from the folks. Tis a Specialized Globe in a '55' size. Standover height would not be a problem for a 5'6"er. Not sure about reach but it does have an adjustable stem. Let me know if it sounds suitable. Oh and it has both a rack and mudguards

edit: here it is (no Brooks anymore

Thanks Anthony! This is the second offer already! I've just sent the small print to Frank and am waiting to see if he tears it up!

Oh gawd, the less said about that thread the better, trying to read through AFS inane dickhead comments. Needless to say, I'd have more fun sniffing petrol and then trying to set fire to the inside of my head.

Anyways, back to the ride to Brighton....I think the BB ain't a bad idea.

Just to say Simon that I will be attending, unless the weather turns of course. I'll be going through a mid life crisis then and a bike ride will do me good.

Didn't work for me - I met Rich P.

Thanks! It's her first FNRttC and quite a long ride for her, so SS might be a bit of a challenge, but it's great to have all these offers.

Could loan her my small Condor - I think it ticks all the boxes - Brooks, CHECK, Rack, CHECK, Mudguards, CHECK!

You'd have to collect from the Strand (my work) sometime in the evening and return it there on Saturday?

And if you supply a suitable saddle that could be swapped too.

I could pick it up from the Strand. Amy's dropping off her rucksack at our place, and she could then stay for tea and come up to HPC with us

(later edit) actually I could pick the Condor or SD's bike up any time and drop it back any time - I presume she'll have to come back to ours to pick up her rucksack

Not wanting to get competitive, but my suggestion to Claudine was that she could pick up mine from Paddington just before the ride.
